Meet the Vegas.
This time, two years ago, I virtually met Erica for the first time, for my first wedding consultation ever. Before my old Instagram account got deleted, I had a bunch of mutual followers that were local business owners. When I asked Erica how she found me, she told me her lash girl recommended her...which was crazy cause I have never gotten my lashes done. I was still so new to business at this point! But I asked Erica a few questions and we eventually set up a video call. She told me about how she and Carlos had actually gotten married in their living room via Zoom a few months prior to our meeting because they were just that excited (and because the pandemic was still running rampant at the time), and that their wedding day would actually be on their first anniversary.
Come November 4th, 2022, I walked into The Milestone in Georgetown, met Carlos and Erica, and went straight up to their coordinator Becki of Olive and Opal Events, and let her know it was my first solo wedding.
Every single person I met that day was kind, understanding and so helpful and I don’t say that lightly.
We were unsure if it was going to rain that afternoon - word went around like a game of Telephone as to whether or not it was still drizzling. We waited until about 30 minutes before the ceremony to make the final call and it was perfect.
The ceremony was held outside at The Milestone and there was a mix of overcast and blue skies. The nice weather lasted for the ceremony and group portraits. We made it inside with about two minutes to spare before the downpour started. Nothing mattered at that point. Carlos and Erica were married, everyone was inside, warm food was being served, and everyone was gathered together. We spent the evening dancing to Selena and ended the night with a private dance and a sparkler send-off.
When I think of Carlos and Erica, I also think about all of their family and friends. I think about how the love that was poured into them and into that day was reflection on the type of amazing people Carlos and Erica are, in my eyes. I remember the guys putting up the greenery & neon sign for the photo booth in their shorts and t-shirts, and how the girls cleaned up the bridal suite and Gilyn placed the bridesmaid dresses perfectly for photos while I was out doing groomsmen photos. The way Erica's Dad wept quietly when he saw her for the first time. The way everyone was so eager to celebrate them. The way "I love you 4000," will always remind me of their vows. The way they surround themselves with people who are not only willing to give you a chance, but who are there to help you along the way because that’s who they are too, and I was so blessed to be able to witness it all happen in real time.
You are who you surround yourself with - that’s the best way I can describe it.
Erica, I am so forever grateful for you and the love you and Carlos have, and the love you surround yourselves with. Thank you for taking a chance on me and for being my first bride 🤍
